|Patti Newfield, B.P.E., Recreation Facilities Management Diploma, President and Director|
Patti is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Fairview Arena as well as strategic planning and facility development. Her background ranges from retail banking to organizing professional golf tournaments, fundraising, operating recreational facilities to her current role of managing the financial affairs of the largest adult soccer association in Calgary. She has held various Board positions proudly having a positive impact on sport and recreation development in B.C., Northwest Territories and Alberta as a participant, community volunteer, coach and administrator. She is a past Director with Sport Calgary and a key contributor to its Ice User Task Force which is committed to improving accessibility and enhanced participation for all ice users within the city. Patti served eight years on the SAWHA Board in a number of different capacities. Within SAWHA she established a female hockey skills development program funded with grants and the support of Hockey Alberta. Patti has played in SAWHA since 1999.
|Leslie Ann Kalman, B.Comm.,CA, Treasurer and Director|
Leslie Ann is responsible for all the financial matters of FWHAS, including invoicing, collections, bill payments, reporting and preparation of government grants. Leslie Ann works very closely with the Arena Manager overseeing day to day operations. She is a very active Board Member establishing growth strategies, direction, policies, procedures and internal controls. She is also the Director, Fairview Facility and League Development for SAWHA and previously served as the Treasurer, Scheduler and Director of Operations for SAWHA over the last nine years. She brings 20 years of extensive financial industry experience with major companies, like Northridge Petroleum Marketing, Metronet Communications and AT&T Canada, from inception to public success. She has played in the SAWHA league since 1985 and also manages the Calgary Raiders Womens hockey team.
|Patrick Foster, Electronics Engineering Diploma-Director & Vice-President|
|Patrick is a member of the Board Development Committee which is responsible for developing the Board policies for FWHAS. He will be drawing upon his extensive experience in the Calgary Senior Men's league where he is currently the league scheduler, ice and referee coordinator. Patrick operates his own IT Consulting firm, where he helps clients setup and maintain their networks from servers, desktops, phone systems and web site design. He also helps the clients apply their business rules to internal databases and programs working with suppliers and internal staff. Patrick enjoys being involved in all levels of sports, both as a participant and a coach, and is currently an active player in the Senior Men’s League.|
|Marg Holman, Health Care Aid, Director & Vice-President|
|Marg is a member of the Human Resource Committee. She has spent ten years on the SAWHA Board of Directors (President and V.P. Discipline ) and two years on the Board of the Calgary Women’s Spring Hockey League. She also organizes the Calgary Women’s Spring Hockey Tournament . She started and managed a local women’s hockey team, in Okotoks for ten years and a minor hockey league team for 2 years. Volunteering is a serious part of her life, from all levels of hockey, charities, school parent councils, a children’s playschool board, garden and patio projects, cubs, cadets and other minor sport teams. Since retiring from nursing at a Long Term Care facility, she can be found at a local greenhouse in DeWinton. Marg has played in the SAWHA league since 2000.|
|Marnie Mitchell, Director and Secretary|
Marnie is a member of the Capital Committee which focuses on identifying and funding projects to improve the arena. She previously served six years as a SAWHA Board member in various roles including Director of Scheduling and Director of Marketing & Events. Marnie worked for many years as the Southern Alberta Regional Manager for a large sporting goods retailer. Marnie currently works in IT Project Management for TAQA North, a global oil & gas company. She has played in the SAWHA league since 1995.
|Sharry Gardin, Architectural Technologies Diploma; Geographic Information Systems Diploma, Director & Vice-President|
Sherry is a member of the Human Resource Committee. Working as the North American Sales Manager for Precision Agriculture she is responsible for the development of regional business plans with specific objectives and implementation strategies for targeted growth, market share and profitability improvement. Sherry played in SAWHA and the Calgary Women's Recreational Hockey League for over ten years. Sherry is a long time Clinic Leader with the Running Room motivating people to walk / run Half Marathons.
|Judy Szepesi, BComm (Management Information Systems), Director & Vice-President|
Judy is a member of the Board Development Committee which is responsible for developing the Board policies for FWHAS. She also maintains the FWHAS and SAWHA websites and was a key player in the development of FWHAS's on-line booking system. Judy was an active SAWHA Board member for several years and has played in the SAWHA league since 1990. She works as a Business Systems Analyst for a large Oil and Gas company and is currently coaching a U14 girls volleyball team out of the Volleydome.
